Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
